7 Ways to Positively Use Humor In the Workplace
By: Dr. Michael Purinton

Personal Anecdotes - These real life funny situations reveal our humor and allow others to see us in a new, more genuine way.

Quotations -There are many books on the market with humorous quotations. Use these quotes to spice up your presentations, newsletters or next meeting.

Cartoons - Newspapers, Magazines and Journals all are sources for funny cartoons relevant to the workplace. Post them on the bulletin board, over the copy machine or by the coffee pot.

Lists - David Letterman is famous for his "Top 10" Lists. Make up your own funny lists that fit your work environment.

Newspaper Articles - Every day the newspaper furnishes us with great misprints, mis-quotes and misspellings. These laughable mistakes can liven up any meeting or speech.

Letters - memos, letters and cards that we receive in the mail all are sources of humor. Start saving the entertaining ones for your humor file.

Euphemisms and Fractured English - Euphemisms can make a negative situation more tolerable with new and creative language. For instance, "I’m not losing my hair, I’m follicly impaired."
